5th Grade to 6th Grade Presentation Reflection
Today, the middle school principal and the middle school assistant principal came to show us a presentation that had information for us 5th graders of what it's going to be like in middle school. They talked about our schedule, elective classes, CEESA, 6th grade expectations, core classes, house program, faculty in the middle school and much much more. Although I won't be here in AAS for 6th grade, I understood that some of the changes in middle school in AAS will be the same for my new school in Lusaka, Zambia, Africa (AISL).
I'm excited for.....
The more independence that we will earn in middle school such as choosing some of our own classes, being able to attend the CEESA program (in my new school they have basically the same thing). Also that we get more room and have a more secure and bigger space to keep our work, school supplies and other needs, which are our lockers. Also in middle school, I can be graded and do more work in the things I am passionate for and things that I love doing on a regular basis.
I'm worried for.....
How much homework we'll have. In 5th grade, we do have lots of homework, but in middle school, we will have lots of homework PLUS our sport activity, our elective class work and also our homework times the number of classes we have. (I'm also worried it won't be like MS in AAS then in my new school). I really would like to do soccer, volleyball and acting, but I'm worried that I won't have time to put in my full commitment. But I'll try to do my best!
Questions I have.....
1. Will we have spirit days as often in my middle school in Zambia?
2. How are progress report cards issued and how are they similar to the 'end of the term' report cards?
3. Will we be able to decorate our lockers as much as AAS students will have the privilege?
Overall, I'm very excited about middle school and I'm excited to try out new opportunities gain more and more nice experiences from my choices taken in middle school. Watch out AISL, Maleia Chapman is arriving on August 4th!
(My new school):
-Maleia Chapman
