Poetry-What are you thankful for?

At the table on Thanksgiving dinner, we go around and say what we are thankful for?
I raise my hand, wanting to go first,
But of course it’s oldest first!
I cross my arms saying “unfair!”
as I slump to bottom of my chair.
When it’s my turn,
and my idea is taken,
In my mind, there saying “time’s   a wastin’!
All I say is…
I am thankful for Thanksgiving and way more,
and I say it to you; What are you Thankful For?

Poetry- Christmas Time!

Everyone’s ready?
Ready for Santa?
Christmas time is here!
Stockings, presents, carols and trees,
hot cocoa, shopping, and candy please!
This is my favorite time of year,
so just have a big cup of cheer!
But the true meaning of Christmas doesn’t come in all of the presents, the true meaning of Christmas is full of events!
Spend time with your family, friends , and just realize,
That if you're good, maybe you’ll get a surprise!

Poetry- My first Steps!

When I was little,
I took my first steps,
I wonder if Mom or Dad made bets about who
I would walk too,
as I took my first steps!
I wonder how I felt about it,
how I felt my feet move,
as I took my first steps.
Did I wear shoes?
Who won and who loosed at the bets,
as I took my first steps.
But, now I know and remember back then,
it’s not the question how, it’s the question when.

Russian Orthodox Church- Field Trip to Victory Park

On December 3rd 2015, the whole fourth grade, went on a field trip to Victory park. We got to see 3 different religions; The three were: The Mosque, the Russian Orthodox Church and the synagogue. I'm going to talk about The Russian Orthodox Church. The Russian Orthodox church believed that Jesus, God, and The Holy Ghost, were all one person. The believed that when Jesus was on the earth, we was all of the three people. In the Church, it was pretty small, but it had lots of pictures of Jesus Christ and some of his apostles. Jesus Christ had 12 apostles. In the church, they had an icon wall with all of Jesus' apostles and some of the warriors in The church. One of the warriors was St. George. There was a dragon in a kingdom and St. George killed the dragon, because the dragon would kidnap children and the Dragon was about to kidnap the King's and Queen's daughter. On the icon wall had a picture of St. George with a spear and a sword to represent that he was a great warrior! The Russian Orthodox people would light candles for prayer and also prayers for relatives that have died. How the people would pray at home and sometimes at the church is they would put their thumb, middle finger, and pointer finger together and their ring finger and pinky and bend them down and they would put the fingers up on their forehead to represent the father, and then bring it down to their chest and say son, and then they would move the finger to their left then right shoulder and say Holy Ghost, Amen. One of the other things that we recognized, is that their were only to small benches and there were no seats and the reason why is; they believed that people would have to make a small sacrifice of praying when they are standing and kneeling down on their knees to pray instead of praying while sitting down. There was also a picture of Jesus Christ holding a big book, and this book was called The Book Of Life. When you are baptized in water, your name is recorded in a book. If you keep his commandments, your name will be in the book for eternity, but if you don't keep his commandments, your name will be erased from the book. The symbol of The Russian Orthodox Church church is the cross. The reason is; that
they believe that Jesus died on a cross, because he loved us.
The End!!!!!!!

Owl Pellets

     Owl Pellets
In our class, we got little owl pellets that was wrapped in tinfoil. We unwrapped them and we were given a magnifying glass, a little sharp stick that was skinny and also a little spoon to help us dig. In the pellets you would find rodent and bird skulls in them and some other bones of little animals that the owls would eat in the forest. It was really fun to discover lots of bones that an owl would eat! At first, I was really disgusted, because I was touching things that an owl would eat! But then, I was really interested for me to find little bones and skulls! I also found stuff like dirt and little things of dust!! I didn’t have lots of time but I had a little time to put the bones together and made a little animal of my own! It was a really fun exercise to discover animals that owls eat in the food chain! This was connected to our unit of inquiry, because we got a first feel of what the food chain is for animals and also some insects and plants!
I think that I could have done better with reacting so silly at first but I found out that it was really fun! I think this was a FUN activity! I think it was super duper fun! ~Maleia

Biome: Amazon Rainforest

I think that I worked really well on this project with my group. We made three posters and also did a talk show for the class! This project was an easy project for me. We worked nicely together and shared our ideas, communicated and I think we did a great presentation! We described important facts and little details about the Amazon! We really talked about some adaptations, how animals are interdependent, and how things rely on each other and some food webs! I think we did a great job!                                                        (Maleia, Marusya, Polina)

¿QUÉ HE HECHO HOY ANTES, DURANTE Y DESPUÉS DE LA ESCUELA?

I think that this presentation  was not hard or easy. It was a good practice with presenting and also a good practice with talking out loud in Spanish. It was really fun to make this presentation and I really enjoyed taking the pictures and also doing all the little details to it. I really like to do lots of presentations in classes. I think that I could improve on not reading the board and to just take a quick look at it and present not read. I think i did a good job and that my presentation was really interesting!

Narrative Writing

My Personal Narrative: Summer Disaster!
By: Maleia Chapman
This summer, I was in Utah in the United States and was staying at my aunt’s house! It was BURNING hot outside. I asked my mom if we could go to a pool close by called The Roy City Pool. It took it a while for her to say yes, but eventually or should I say FINALLY she said yes. We were at the pool and I was going to go on the diving board. We also went with my friend’s family too, and my friend had a one-year-old sister and more brothers too. We both headed for the diving board. First, I jumped off, then my friend jumped off, but we never knew that her little sister tagged along and was just about to jump off (And she doesn’t know how to swim) But before she could jump off, me and my friend were yelling “Go back!”, “Don’t jump!”, it was useless!“Climb off!”. And of course there are like a million people at the pool and your mom is not staring at you but everyone else is!!! It was the most embarrassing  moment of my life. FINALLY her sister came off the diving board(After we helped her down and carry back which she weighed like a thousand pounds!) Let’s just say it was a summer disaster and I really don’t ever want to go back to that pool ever again! Oh, and one more thing… Me and my friend, Lydia, never told our mom’s about it ever! Not even our family or not even our dad’s and…… NEVER EVER!!!

The Colosseum in Rome, Italy.

Why did I pick the Colosseum? By: Maleia .C
I picked this because for my January Break I went to Italy, so I thought this could be a good one. And it is really pretty!
What Materials did they use to make the Colosseum?
the other pillars and radial walls, tiles for the floors of the upper storeys and the walls; finally, concrete (a.k.a. cement) for the vaults. credit google…
What is the purpose of the Colosseum?
To create a massive, breath-taking structure conveying the wealth, might and power of Rome.
The environmental Factors of the Colosseum is….
If they used wood instead of concrete then it would've fell because it is not strong enough to hold up something big like the Colosseum!

Connection Activity

Diana, Ben and I worked well together to make our school AAS and a
a beaver dam close to it. The easiest part of this activity was making
the floor of AAS! The hardest part of this activity was making the
walls of AAS! We think you would find this AAS is in a neighborhood!
The purpose of our AAS was to teach kids to learn about different things!
Next time we will try to add the roof to it a little bit more stable! I learned
how to cooperate and work together as a team to build ONE structure!
In real life we would really use tile, tools, wood, light etc. We would use
it because the tools will help it all stay together, the tile will help it look
nice, and the light because so we can see.

Structures Paragraph

I wrote about what I want to know about our structures and what I want to learn more about structures! I also wrote about how long I think it might take to build a structure!

Structures Pre-Assement

This is my Structures Pre-Assessment. I learned that you can build structures in any place. I want to know what basic materials you need to build a structure, and some rare things you need to build a structure! This Pre-Assessment is about to see how much we already know about structures!
