Chapman Chravels Intro

What's the purpose of the Chapman Chravels blog? The purpose is so that after a family vacation we can type up things that we learned, things we enjoyed and our many adventures we have had on our fun trip as a family! At the end of each post you will see the author's name who wrote about the journey. The author will be one of the Chapman family members. This way, you can see our different ideas or opinions of our trip and some likes and dislikes as well. This blog is one of our family new years resolutions so we will not only do this blog to achieve the resolution, but also to have fun with it! We hope that you will see lots of posts on this blog! And remember, Have fun with it!

Echo~ Main Characters

This is from the book Echo that Miss Bartels read to our class during snack time. These are about the main characters in the book. This book took place before World War 2. I liked this book a lot! Thank You Miss Bartels! Fredrik- Fredrik is a 12 year old boy who has a big birthmark on his face and it doesn’t really look like one. Lots of other boys call him ‘Monster Boy’. He also has a habit of closing his eyes and pretend that he is waving a baton in an orchestra. He works at a harmonica factory, because his dad retired.
Elizabeth- Elizabeth is an 18 year old girl who went away to a Nursing School far away to live with her cousin Marguerite. Fredrik and her father was excited to see her come home from Nursing School. Elizabeth acted and helped like a mother would help, because their mother died when Elizabeth was only 6 years old! Later on, She decided to become a Hitlerite and join the League of German Girls.
Martin- Martin is a father of two children. His wife died when his kids were very little. He worked at the harmonica factory for a while, but at one point, he retired. He likes to play the cello. He used to play in an orchestra in Germany. One day, he was arrested because he had a Jewish Man in his house to play music and the Nazi police showed up at their house and arrested the father and sent him to a concentration camp called the Dakow. Later, Fredrik and Martin’s brother try to save him, but Fredrik was caught.
Uncle Gunter- Uncle Gunter is Martin’s Brother. Uncle Gunter lives in a two room apartment and is not married and doesn’t have any kids. When Martin was arrested, Fredrik ran to Uncle Gunter’s house to stay. Uncle Gunter got a bucket of cookies and a letter from Elizabeth who left them. Secretly, Uncle Gunter found a secret compartment with stacks and stacks of money to try and offer the money to let Martin free.
