UOI Mini Speech- Technology Over Time

Intro: As apart of 5th graders new unit, Technology over Time (TOT), each kid had to choose a technology that made them curious about.        
                                                                                                              Step One: After we chose our technology to study,  we'd have 3 to 4 days to do research in school and home about that particular technology. I chose The Typewriter. It made me wonder what came to be after The Typewriter or what is has affected.

Step Two: After doing all of our research, we had to take our notes and create a poster answering four simple questions.
- What lead to your invention?
- What was invented BECAUSE of the typewriter?
- How has it affected the way people live?
- How has your invention changed over time?
I chose to do an info graphic to answer the first question and then I did some google drawings to answer the rest of the questions.

Step Three: After we finished our poster in about 2 or 3 days, we'd have to think of how we were going to give a mini speech about our poster without completely reading off of our posters. We'd have one day of work in school and at home to prepare a mini speech.

Step Four: After we'd prepared and practiced, we PRESENTED! We put our poster on the whiteboard and we'd give a mini speech in front of the whole class while someone videos us. After our mini speech, the filming person would film 3 people with suggestions and or compliments.

Writing Unit- Speeches- Relfection

For our next writing unit, the 5th grade all wrote speeches that related to our Unit of Inquiry, technology. We all had to choose a technology and write a speech about...
- Why it is the best
- What we need to do with it (use it less, more often)
- What is wrong about it
ETC!
   I decided on a technology that was quite popular in my class, which was Social Media. My speech was trying to get people to take caution while on/using social media. I decided on this topic, because this is a REAL problem in our world and that people aren't using it correctly or responsibly. After a week or so to research and prepare/write our speech, we each had to present our speech in front of the class. After everyone who wanted to be chosen to talk in the Bolshoi gave their speech, our class voted on our top 2/3 people who had the best speech. I WAS ONE OF THEM!!! Yay!! Sussie and Lina were also chosen to speak and I was super exited. On February 15th, we gave our speech along with other people from 5th grade in the Bolshoi for "Kid Talks" in front of 5th grade, 4th grade and parents. It was sort of nerve-raking at first, but then I felt like I've accomplished another part of my dream career, a writer. Here is the link to my speech:
